National Curriculum in Mathematics

I attended one of the forums on the proposed Australian national curriculum last week.

Although the curriculum is very much at ground zero at the moment, I was encouraged and energised by the concerns raised by teachers present and their visions for a future curriculum. The group that I was in was passionate about developing ‘content throughlines’ and big ideas that are articulated developmentally throughout the years of schooling.

You can find a copy of the initial statement here.

If you have any ideas on how you would like to see the mathematics curriculum develop, please make your views known. We have the opportunity to create something positive, engaging, rigorous and challenging. Make a difference, have your say.

News on the National Curriculum Board and a link to give your views are here.
